Evaluation of my finished preliminary task products.
On my front cover I have my model producing the “devils horns” rock and roll symbol; in my opinion this connotes angst and passion and when attending college the students need to have a lot of passion. However this symbol was a way to ward off the devil, because it resembles the devils horns.
The model on her hand is wearing arm warmer these are made of wool and are stripy. These fact she is wearing stripes can sometimes make her seem to be a trouble-maker.
My model is wearing a black shirt that has buttons on it. The wearing of black in fashion is popular because it connotes people to think they are thinner therefore boosting self-esteem. It is also stylish and timeless. Black also implies submission maybe a submission to learning. Some fashion experts say a woman wearing black implies submission to men. Black outfits can also be overpowering, or make the wearer seem aloof or evil.
My model is also wearing a flower necklace with green stones inside. Wearing a necklace with a flower can connote freshness and new beginnings. This gives me the impression that the college is a fresh new start and each day is a new beginning.
For the background I have made a collage of pictures of students all around college this is the background I will use if I had an ongoing magazine. The definition of a collage is an art form that involves creating a work that consists of things stuck to one another. (Some scrapbooks make extensive use of this kind of thing). The concept is very broad and doesn't always involve using glue or other adhesives. This collage could connote a sense of “family” or a close knit student body.
For my magazine font I have used bold outlined lettering to make it stand out off the page as much as possible. I also used the colours from the stripes of the arm warmer to tie the whole cover in as one.
For my magazine cover I think that the background worked incredibly because it’s different to other magazines and I have not seen anyone else use this type of background. The background was the longest part of magazine and in my opinion it’s the best thing on my magazine. For my background I turned the opacity down and in my opinion after thinking about it I would have turned it back up as I don’t think it has the effect I wanted the background to have.
I also think the colour of the text worked extremely well as it ties all my magazine together however I would change the boldness of the text so the words stood out more from the text. This would catch people’s eye better and make them want to read on mores.
I believe the way my model is stood is a particularly good pose and I also
Stevie,
ReplyDeleteYour work is enthusiastic and often creative, but erratic. For example, the above post finishes in mid sentence! As you are aware, you need to work on your spelling and sentence structure, but I think it is also a case of taking care to be methodical about things - PLANNING what you want to say, DRAFTING your writing, and CHECKING your final piece.
Another example of your rather erratic approach is that you have not done one of the homework tasks - the planning post. It seems to me that in your enthusiasm you are overlooking the need to be disciplined in how you tackle your work. If you gain this discipline you will do very well, but if you don't you will hinder your chances of success.
Keep you creativity and energy, as your Photoshop ideas and layourts are really good, but take a more careful approach.
